Kosovo provides the US with a permanent military base

 The Government of Kosovo has provided the United States of America with a permanent military base in Kosovo.

 The offer on behalf of the government was made by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo, Armend Mehaj, during his visit to the Pentagon, where he met with the Undersecretary of the Department of Defense, Dr. Colin Kahl.

Mehaj said that this offer expresses Kosovo's interest in deepening relations and advancing the partnership with the United States of America.

"In terms of advancing the permanent partnership, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, I offered Undersecretary Kahl the opportunity to establish a permanent US military base in Kosovo, estimating that it would greatly contribute to peace and regional stability in the Balkans," Mehaj wrote on Facebook.

He said that Deputy Secretary Kahl expressed his highest appreciation for the cooperation and partnership and for Kosovo's engagement in the humanitarian operation for the accommodation of Afghan refugees.

Mehaj also said that the US Undersecretary of Defense. Dr. Colin Kahl highly appreciated the first peacekeeping mission of the KSF in Kuwait and the participation of the KSF in the Training of American forces with the allied forces "Defender-Europe'21".

He said Undersecretary Kahl had reaffirmed US support for Kosovo's integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, stressing that President Biden's vision for the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU remained high on the US administration's agenda.

Minister Mehaj said that Deputy Secretary Kahl stressed that the US will continue to support the advancement of the KSF capacity to further enhance Kosovo's role in maintaining global peace and security.

The Minister of Defense of Kosovo, Armend Mehaj, announced that Undersecretary Kahl informed the development of the KSF and stressed the commitment of Kosovo to contribute to maintaining peace and security at the regional and global level.
