Majlinda Kelmendi is a Kosovar judoka who has achieved high results in the national and international arena. The Government of Kosovo has approved the draft decision for Majlinda Kelmendi to be declared "Citizen with special merits". From today onwards, the Kosovar judoka will be recognized as a citizen with special merits for her contribution and success in the sport of judo.
This proposal was made by Hajrullah Çeku, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, who proposed this point in today's meeting of the Government, adding that every month Kelmendi will be rewarded with 1,321 euros per month.
Majlinda is known by all Albanians because with her talent she has managed to hold high the flag of Kosovo but also the Albanian one, thus becoming an idol of the fans.
"Majlinda Kelmendi through judo became the icon of Kosovar sports and an example of our society to break all taboos. She has proved to our youth that when it comes to working for something, success is impartial. She has completed her career and will now continue to be a coach at the National Judo Center in Kosovo. She will continue to work on building Kosovo's champions in the sport of judo. "As a Minister, we propose that Kelmedi receive the status of special merit, every month he will be rewarded with 1,321.32 euros, equivalent to the salary of a minister", said Çeku at the Government meeting.
