Puka Police Deputy Commissioner declared wanted for favoring cannabis cultivation

 The police have declared Kastriot Bicukaj, deputy commissioner at the Puka Police Commissariat, wanted, after the Special Court ruled for him the security measure "prison arrest". The 29-year-old was not found in his apartment during the operation for his capture conducted the day before by the Police, under the direction of SPAK.

He is suspected of favoring the "Cultivation of narcotic plants" carried out within a structured criminal group.

During the operation of the previous day, four inspectors of the Puka Police Station were detained, Zamir Mehaj, 48 years old, Alfred Ndoj, 32 years old, Fatmir Alija, 50 years old and Petrit Florini, 49 years old, against whom the measure of security "obligation to report to the judicial police". The four are suspected of "abuse of duty".

Bicukaj is suspected of being part of a structured criminal group that has cultivated and trafficked cannabis in the mountainous area between Puka and Mirdita. During the period December 2020 - October 2021, the police managed to seize over 70 kg of cannabis narcotics, as well as have destroyed about 4000 narcotic plants.

In the framework of this criminal proceeding, 9 other persons were arrested, suspected as part of a structured criminal group, which included Deputy Commissioner Bicukaj, and 3 others were declared wanted. Also, in addition to the security measure "obligation to appear" for the 4 police officers, the security measure "home arrest" was given to 3 other persons'.
