Albania has wonderful talents, who with will, perseverance and passion move forward and create beautiful and innovative things wherever they are, which serve specific people or professions. This is also the case of this young man that we had the opportunity to do an interview with.
Just 21 years old, Luka Lamaj from Tirana, studies Biochemistry at Bishop University in Canada. He lives and studies there, where he is working on 3 different projects "Docere App", "Cool Historians" and "Lavel NFT".
Luka stands out as his main project "Docere", where he is co-founder and CEO. "Docere" is a technological startup in the field of medicine and more specifically is a communication platform between doctors and patients where medical examinations are done online with the help of features such as 3D body graphs, payment of doctors with cryptocurrencies, doctors' maps, etc.
"Like our company motto: 'Ars Longa, Vita Brevis' (Life is short, art stays forever), we are creating a platform that will always be valuable to Canadian citizens," the young man told BusinessMag.
With this startup he has won the third prize from 200 companies from all over Canada, who applied in a competition organized by the Canadian government organization CCSBE (Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship) in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick.
Luka is currently telling us that they are in the process of raising funds, where they have raised $ 10,000 so far. He has even recently been admitted to the DMZ Incubator by Ryerson University, which is one of the best Business Incubators and Accelerators in Canada with an acceptance rate of 5%.
He tells us that "During December we are planning to talk to Super-Angel Investors from Canada and America to invest in our company and early next year to launch the Docere app for Android and iOS."
The other project that Luka has created is about history, but already in a completely different format, presenting it in a more fun and interesting way for the public.
"Cool Historians" is a podcast where I personally talk about interesting stories from around the world. The format of this podcast is short, simple, and engaging. Since the story is perceived by many as very boring, I'm trying to make it 'cool' for the public," says Luka.
So far 21 episodes have been released, where stories have been talked about: The Great Emu War, The Lady Pirates, Genghis Khan, Thomas Edison or the American Civil War.
The "Cool Historians" podcast is heard in 33 countries around the world. So far Luka has appeared in 3 different shows on Albanian national television channels with a large audience. But this is just the beginning. His vision for Cool Historians is to create the largest community of history lovers on all social media platforms, and with the growth rate, the podcast is seeing, this day will come very soon.
"The purpose and reason why I started this podcast is to share as much value with the public, especially the young audience, and why not to become an 'intellectual influencer'," Luka says.
For all those who are passionate about history can follow the Cod Historians Podcast episodes on: Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast etc, and also on the Instagram and TikTok accounts: @coolhistorians
His third project is Lavel NTF. Luka says this is a special project he is doing with his brother and will bring innovation to the Balkan market, as they are the first to bring the term NFT to the Balkans.
But what is an NFT? It is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored in a digital book.
NFTs can be used to represent easily reproducible items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files as unique items, and use blockchain technology to create a verified and public proof of ownership.
So NFTs are everything original one owns (mostly digital art). "I strongly believe in this project, because NFT is still a very new trend and a very good opportunity to become successful. I would compare it to Bitcoin in 2011," says Luka.
And above all owning an NFT according to him is essentially transformed into a social status. Just as people buy Gucci or Louis Vuitton bags and clothes today, so they will buy NFT from different companies in the near future.
They have just launched their first NFT, which is sold at the "Rarible.com" marketplace.
His message to young people at the end of the interview for BusinessMag is: "I want to encourage all young people to pursue their passions because we are in the right time to make a difference!"
