Albania-Greece relations, the Cham issue, the sea and emigrants hinder normalcy

Flags of Albania and Greece
The maritime border, the Cham issue and the rights of Albanian emigrants hinder the development of optimal relations between Albania and Greece.

In a study conducted by the Albanian Institute of International Studies, it turns out that for several years in a row, citizens' perception of the bilateral relationship does not exceed the threshold of normalcy.

According to the chairwoman of the Foreign Policy Committee, Mimi Kodheli, the bilateral relationship is in a very positive spirit but describes the Law of War implemented by Greece a few decades ago as an unnecessary stalemate.

"The law of war is not vanished because of issues we all know, issues of property and narrow interests. But obviously, we need to sit down and discuss, in a way that both parties benefit. The delimitation of the sea is a good example", said Kodheli.

But the perception of the leader of the Union for Human Rights Party, Vangjel Dules, who complains about the government's approach to the Greek minority in recent years, is quite different.
