The Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Michael Linhart, said that the opening of Albania's talks with the European Union is a necessity.

Linhart was received in Tirana and then appeared together at a press conference by Foreign Minister Olta Xhacka.

"Albania belongs to Europe both culturally and economically and has successfully done its homework. Opening talks with the EU is a must. "It should now enter the state lane and not be left in a secondary lane," said Minister Linhart.

He stressed that Austria wants the countries of the Western Balkans to be invited to the meetings of the Council, as you have to talk not only about the Balkans but also about the Balkan countries.

"This," continued the Austrian minister, "is accomplished by holding joint summits." "Especially the youth, we have a duty to provide the conditions for a secure Europe for our partners in the Western Balkans."

Minister Xhaçka emphasized that Mr. Linart's visit was an indicator of the attention that Austria pays to Albania and the Balkan region.

She also stressed that Austria has a significant contribution to the security and stability of the entire Balkans and the process of European integration of Albania, grateful for the support of this country.

"Strengthening the commitment of the European Union and political cooperation with the Western Balkans is essential. Albania has made substantial efforts to implement some important reforms," said Ms. Xhaçka.

According to Minister Xhaçka, the revival of the integration perspective of the region encourages the continuation of reforms and strengthening stability.
