"Albania has made progress in many areas and therefore deserves the opening of negotiations with the European Union," said Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who actually is on an official visit to Albania.

"You have made a lot of progress, on many issues. That is why we agree to start negotiations. I want to bring the EU closer to Albania. We talked about what needs to be done about universities, about agriculture, about things that need to continue to improve."

Rutte also spoke about the cooperation between Albania and the Netherlands.

"I am happy that the two countries are deepening relations, we are cooperating economically, with exports, Dutch companies are working to do more business with Albania." Let us continue to work like this."

The Dutch Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Edi Rama for the hospitality in Tirana, while expressing the readiness for continuous meetings and further cooperation.

"The office of the Dutch Prime Minister in The Hague is the most special I have ever seen and I have been waiting for a long time to return to my friend in Tirana, the honor of the very friendly hospitality he reserved for me in his office." Rama wrote on his Facebook.
