Gjiknuri declares against the vetting of Albanian politicians
Damian Gjiknuri
The General Secretary of the Socialist Party, Damian Gjiknuri, has spoken out against the constitutional changes that would pave the way for the vetting of politicians, initiated by the Democratic Party.

According to him, Albania has sufficient legislation for the purity of the image.

"I gave my answer a little while ago. Albania has sufficient legislation for the purity of the image of politicians. We have ILD, KPI for the declaration of property, it is the law of decriminalization and it is also the vote of the citizens in the end ", he said.

Gjiknuri, who is co-chair of the working group for Electoral Reform, also spoke about this process. He said that the reform will be done in compliance with the recommendations of the OSCE-ODIHR.

"In fact, I expect the opposition to come and appoint their own people for the Electoral Reform. Has an experience as Electoral Reform starts. It starts from the OSCE-ODHIR recommendations. "We already have the OSCE-ODHIR recommendations and let's start working", said Gjiknuri.

He said that the Socialist Party is ready to participate in local elections in all municipalities in which they will be declared by the Constitutional Court.

"Definitely the Socialist Party is ready to compete in all municipalities where there will be elections," said Gjiknuri.
