Lushnja farmers protest with free vegetable boxes for citizens


 Myzeqe farmers today offered free vegetables to the citizens of Lushnja in the form of protests, as they marched in the streets to demand changes to the fiscal package for agriculture for next year.

Dozens of local farmers marched from the city's main boulevard to the town hall with placards reading "there is no food without farmers" and calls on the government to meet their demands.

They also left boxes of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers on the street under the note “gift from farmers and exporters to the citizens of Lushnja. Products for export ”.

They demand:

1- Direct subsidies to the farmer not less than 10 leks per kilogram, reflected in the tax invoice.

2-Exporters request 3 new leks per kilogram, to be given directly by the customs directorate without bureaucratic procedures.

3- Equalization of sales VAT with purchase VAT.

4- The measure planned in the fiscal package for 2022 to increase 10% VAT on agricultural inputs is to be suspended.

5- Government to take measures to control the quality of agricultural products, to establish accredited laboratories which are accessible to anyone.

6- To regulate by law the trade relations in the agricultural sector between the farmer and the bad traders who do not pay the bill on time.

On Friday, a group of farmers in the Berat area protested and clashed with police at the Plow roundabout in Lushnja over high prices of pesticides and fertilizers.
