The Albanian school "Gjon Buzuku" in Rethimnos opens for the first time

Full notice:

Today, on 06-11-2021 at 17.00 in the Atsipopulo Public School (ΔΗΜΟΤΙΚΗ ΣΧΟΛΙΟ) is inaugurated the opening ceremony of the first Albanian language course in Rethimno.

After a long effort of the Albanian Factor in Rethimno, and under the care of the ASSOCIATION OF ALBANIAN EMIGRANTS RETHIMNO, a long-standing dream of teaching and starting the Primer of the Albanian language in this school and today is realized.

Permission has also been obtained for the second school in Rethimno to continue the next Albanian language course which will soon open the doors.

For the realization of this dream we want to thank all the staff of the Association for their readiness in preparing the appropriate documentation.

Local institutions for their generosity and permitting.

At the same time, we thank the Albanian Embassy in Athens for its help with the provision of books and primers.

We thank the Municipality of Rethimno and the Directors of the respective schools in which the permission of our Albanian school courses in Rethimno Prefecture has been given.

Today the history of our language is written in an organized and legitimate way. Today our Meshari" is rewritten.

Therefore, the Albanian school will bear the name of the one who held the first pen and embroidered the first letters of this Albanian language… GJON BUZUKU.

Let us enjoy and hold up the spirit of patriotism and let our language live from generation to generation and everywhere in the Diaspora.

Thank you all and welcome all your parents and children.
