The Albanian party "Alternativa", on Saturday, December 4, decided to become part of the ruling coalition in North Macedonia.

This party, with 4 deputies, has secured the parliamentary majority to the ruling parties, which were left with only 60 deputies, as much as the opposition, after the Besa Movement left the ruling coalition.

Alternativa, led by Afrim Gashi, has so far been in an opposition coalition with the Alliance for Albanians, while its MPs were also signatories of the initiative for the motion of no confidence in the Government, on November 11th.

Alternativa justified the entry into government with the latest developments in North Macedonia, in particular with the European integration process.

"Alternativa has decided to be part of the parliamentary majority and to be part of the Government. We estimate that the closing of the dispute with Bulgaria is not only a state goal, but also an Albanian one, because with the closing of this issue, the way of European integration is opened", said the spokesman of Alternative, Orhan Murtezani.

Murtezani did not say what positions will belong to this party, as, as he said, the chairman of the Alternative, Afrim Gashi, and the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, will discuss this on Sunday.

It is unofficially announced that Alternativa will head the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Information Society and Public Administration, and is expected to have two or three positions of deputy ministers and directorates previously headed by the Besa movement.

The decision of Alternative to enter the Government has been criticized by the Alliance for Albanians, which has accused it of violating the agreement on opposition cooperation.

"Alternativa violated the coalition agreement three times by holding talks with Zaev, although in Article 6 of the agreement we had signed, it was said that the parties had agreed that this cooperation would be valid until the next parliamentary elections," reads the reaction of the opposition party Alliance for Albanians.

The decision of the Alternative was also criticized by the Macedonian opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE, which said that this party "will be the biggest loser, as it has always criticized the government for crime and corruption and now decides to become part of such criminal structures”.

VMRO-DPMNE said it believes that this Government has no legitimacy to run the country and that there will soon be early parliamentary elections.
