Lulzim Basha after the National Assembly of DP |
Democratic Party (DP) Chairman Lulzim Basha ignored the referendum on his dismissal from the post of party chairman, which was organized on Saturday, December 18, by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his supporters.
He also ignored the DP Re-establishment Committee that was established in the National Assembly of the party invited by Berisha and his supporters, last Saturday, December 11th.
"There is no referendum, there is no Re-establishment Committee. "There is a DP and a National Assembly that has just taken its decisions", said Basha.
He called on Berisha's supporters to respect the decisions of the National Assembly held today.
"I know that there are some members of the Democratic Party, whom I call on to join the decisions of the institutions of the Democratic Party that were elected with the vote of the members of the Democratic Party," he said.
Basha indirectly accused Berisha of trying to repeat the history of the 1996 elections.
"There are people who do not learn from history. 1996 is a stain of shame in the history of the DP for which we apologize to Albanians. There can be no repetition," he said.
"We could have been the first of all the eastern countries to join the EU. The responsibility for this lies with those who, for their own interests, his personal interest, the then president Sali Berisha accepted an unacceptable electoral standard. Today clearly showed the will of the Democrats", added Basha.
He ruled out the possibility of Berisha and his supporters, who consider themselves legitimate representatives of the Democratic Party, being stationed at the DP headquarters.
