The former General Prosecutor of Albania, Adriatik Lalla, was arrested today in Italy, by Interpol Rome. According to an official announcement of the Albanian Police "thanks to the information received from the structures of the State Police, about the location of this person, as well as the exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and the Italian Police, it became possible to locate and arrest him, for extradition".

An international arrest warrant was issued against Mr. Llalla, as the police did not find him in Albania when the Court of Appeals sentenced him to prison. According to the TIMS system, the register of entry and exit from the country, it turned out that Mr. Llalla had left on a flight to Italy, a few days before the sentencing decision.

On September 22, the Special Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the First Instance, according to which the former Prosecutor General was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and 5 years expulsion from public office, after being found guilty on charges of "concealment and wealth non-declaration”.

Also are confiscated from him some properties previously placed under sequestration: 4 plots of land, a total of 22 thousand square meters, and 1 apartment in Durrës.

Mr. Llalla's lawyer stated after the decision that the former chief prosecutor was in the hospital, but that he did not know his location.
