The very nice news is coming to Kosovo on the eve of the New Year.

The film "Zgjoi" by director Bletra Basholli has been included in the shortlist of films that will be nominated for the most prestigious award in the world of film, "Oscar", in the category of international film.

In this list, which was published by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in addition to the film "Zgjoi", there are 14 other films.

Only 5 of them will remain in the shortlist of Oscar nominations. This list will be published on February 8, and the award ceremony will be held on March 27.

The movie "Zgjoi" reveals the story of Fahrije Hoti from Krusha e Madhe, whose husband disappeared during the war in Kosovo. She starts a small business to provide for her family in the countryside, a patriarchal environment where her ambition is not well received. But, she is a strong woman who overcomes all obstacles of difficulty and manages to create a new life, not only for herself but also for other women of the village with the same life story.

"Zgjoi" was the winner of three awards at the largest American festival "Sundance Film Festival", where its premiere took place: the festival jury award, the award for best director, and the audience award.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday published the shortlist of films nominated in 10 categories for the 94th edition of the Academy Awards.
