Internet browsing through computers, laptops, and especially smartphones has become a favorite tool of pastime in Albania, to be informed, watch movies, debate, to show parts of everyday life on social networks, to make purchases, etc.
Internet penetration in the country has reached about 70%, according to dataportal.com, while the use of the Internet by mobile phones is significantly increasing. According to the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP), for the third quarter, there were 2.19 million broadband internet users from mobile networks, the highest number ever recorded in Albania. Compared to a year ago, the number of users has increased by 12%.
But, which are the sites that have been visited the most in Albania in the last month. According to Alexa, a site specializing in rankings that uses a methodology that combines the estimated traffic of a site and the engagement of visitors over three recent months. The list is dominated by popular social networks, information and entertainment media (including porn).
10 most clicked pages in Albania
The first place is occupied by the search engine google.com, where a visitor spends about 17 minutes a day, searching for various information.
In second place is the youtube, where on average a visitor spends 19 minutes a day listening to music, or watching various videos. Youtube is also the site where Albanians spend more time when they are online.
The same ranking is global, with google and youtube, respectively in first and second place.
In third place is bongacams, a fun site.
From news portals, the main source of information is balkanweb.com, which ranks fourth most clicked in the country, with an average of 8 minutes per user per day, spent being informed of the latest news.
Balkanweb is followed by the site of the same group, panorama.com.al, which ranks fifth.
In sixth place is syri.net, an information portal that has grown steadily in recent years.
The seventh is gjirafa.com, a portal where you can search everything from news to goods to buy.
In eighth place is the other news portal, gazetaekspress.com.
Facebook.com is the most popular social network in Albania, ranking ninth, with 17 minutes per user. Even globally, Facebook is the most used.
