The Hungarian company 4iG officially announces the reaching of an agreement for the purchase of the second largest mobile communications operator in Albania, ONE.

4iG announces that has concluded a final sale and purchase agreement with the companies ATI, Albanian Telecom Invest Ltd., Adarna EOOD, Guri Enterprises B.V. and River Styxx Capital EAD for the purchase of 100% of the shares of Albania Telekom Invest AD, the company that owns 99.899% in ONE Telecommunications sh.a. In this way, 4iG will indirectly benefit the mobile operator ONE. In its announcement, 4iG does not make public the value of the transaction.

"ONE's own infrastructure is among the most developed in the region, with 632 transmission towers for LTE services. In addition, the network is already ready for 5G mobile communication. The acquisition marks another step in the 4iG expansion strategy in the Western Balkans. "If the authorities also agree to the purchase of ONE, the 4iG group will be the biggest player in the telecommunications sector in Albania," reads the official announcement of 4iG.

Earlier this month, 4iG officially announced the deal to buy an 80.27% stake in Albtelecom, owned by the Turkish consortium CETEL.

At the end of the third quarter 2021, ONE had almost 1.1 million active users or about 41% of the total. Meanwhile, the third operator, Albtelecom, had a market share at the end of September stable at 16%. Taken together, their market share, according to active users, would reach 57%, while Vodafone would lag significantly behind, at 43%.

If the transaction is finalized, this will be the second sale of the ONE operator (former Telekom Albania) in less than 3 years. The company was bought at the beginning of 2019 by the consortium Albania Telecom Invest (ATI) for the figure of 50 million euros. According to the company, the final shareholders of the ATI consortium are Albanian-Bulgarian businessman Elvin Guri and Bulgarian entrepreneur Atanas Dobrev, also the general director of Bulgaria's largest telecommunications company, Vivacom.
