Tie was born in Windsor, Ontario on November 1, 1969, to Albanian parents, he is now 51 years old and is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was named the Jets' most popular player in 1994, and Tie also became the all-time leading PIM leader for the Leafs, surpassing his childhood idol Dave "Tiger" Williams on December 15, 2001.

Tie has 3 children Carlin, Max, and Avery Rose, who all lived together in Toronto and Max seems to be following in his father's footsteps. Tie enjoys doing charity work, keeping fit and playing golf.
