The Albanian community in the Bronx, as it had announced the day before, has held today a protest against the decision of the municipal councilor to cancel the street "Fan Noli".

Dozens of members of the Albanian community have participated in this protest organized a few hours before the start of the congress of "Vatra" which is held today. The unveiling of the plaque on the street that would bear the name "Fan Noli" would be one of the main events of today, entirely dedicated to the activity of "Vatra".

It was the former councilor in New York City, Mark Gjonaj, the initiator of the initiative for naming the street "Fan Noli Way". Gjonaj's proposal was approved by the Municipal Council last year, while only its implementation was expected.

"Today, however, we celebrate the Albanian-American community and their contribution. No one can deny you your sweat, your efforts, your commitment, your successes, and your contributions. Justice has just been pushed, as no one can deny us who we are and what we have done. We still do not have a sign now, but we will have our sign, which will be a distinctive sign, "Rruga Fan Noli" said during the protest Mark Gjonaj.

The decision of Marjorie Velazquez, who took the place of the Albanian councilor in the municipality of New York, Mark Gjonaj, is considered a blow by her Albanian voters in the Bronx.
