Abramovich yacht in Montenegro following EU and UK sanctions

The yacht "My Solaris" of the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich sailed in the port of Tivat in Montenegro on Saturday, March 12.

The 140-meter-long ship arrived in Montenegro a few days after the United Kingdom imposed sanctions and decided to freeze the assets of Russian oligarchs, including Abramovich's properties.

Sanctions on the property of Russian billionaires, which are found around the world, were imposed due to Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. Abramovich's yacht is anchored not far from the Montenegrin Navy, near Cape Seljanova in Tivat.

As the West continues to impose sanctions on Russia, official Podgorica, which has joined the European Union, has not yet made any decision to implement them.

On March 1, the Montenegrin government announced that the country had joined all the restrictive measures, including the eight packages of individual sanctions and economic sanctions that the EU has imposed on Russia.

Under Montenegrin law, the government must confirm before approving sanctions and must send a list of measures to be implemented to state institutions.

Abramovich was also suspended earlier in the day from the post of director of the English football club, Chelsea, following EU and UK sanctions against the Russian billionaire.
