Italian police have seized 143m euros worth of villas and yachts belonging to five Russians on a sanctions list over Russia's attack on Ukraine, the Italian government announced on Saturday.
The seized luxury properties were located in some of Italy's most prestigious locations - on the island of Sardinia, on Lake Como, and in Tuscany - while super-yachts were seized in ports in the north of the country, local media reports.
Italian police operations were coordinated as Western states imposed sanctions on the wealthy Russians after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine.
In the list of seized yachts, the most expensive was the 65-meter yacht "Lady M", worth 65 million euros. This yacht belonged to the richest person in Russia, Alexey Mordashov.
The other yacht seized was owned by Gennady Timchenko, whom Putin described as one of his closest friends.
Meanwhile, one of the seized villas belonged to billionaire Alisher Usmanov. Italian authorities also seized the property of Oleg Savchenko, a member of the Russian Parliament. Laso the property of Vladimir Soloviev was seized, a well-known television figure in Russia.
