Albanian Ambassador to UN Ferit Hoxha speaking about the Russian aggression at the Security Counci |
The Albanian representative at the UN Security Council, Ambassador Ferit Hoxha spçoke in today's meeting.
The meeting was inevitably focused on Russian aggression in Ukraine, which is revealing increasingly brutal episodes against civilians by the Russian military.
Ambassador Hoxha intervened after a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, describing the violence against his country.
"We stand by you, Mr. President, by your compatriots, all Ukrainians for the heroic resistance, for their stability that is admired by the whole world. You are not alone, you have the world on your side because it is the side of the righteous, of the righteous and we hope of victory", declared Ambassador Hoxha.
The Albanian representative in the Security Council underlined that “Russia has stalled and its imperial dreams are nowhere; the takeover of Ukraine finally proved impossible; Kyiv was very difficult to swallow. The Russian army is in turmoil but has not stopped strikes and bombings. The real news that has terrified the world is what Russia is leaving behind, the unspeakable horrors, those shocking images in the areas from which Russia is withdrawing. Images of civilians executed with a bullet to the head, sometimes with their hands tied behind their backs or killed on a bicycle; images of mass graves overflowing with corpses. Bucha is an open-air cemetery, the infamous face of Russian aggression."
Hoxha attacked the Kremlin propaganda, which does not even take responsibility for obvious massacres like the one in Bucha. "Waiting for Russia to accept and tell the truth is like waiting for Godot to come. He never comes!” he said, adding that “rarely has the outcome of war been so catastrophic in stark contrast to what it wanted to achieve. The Russian army has been defeated by the Ukrainian resistance under-equipped with weapons and men; Russia is as isolated as ever in its history; has become the most sanctioned country in the world ever in history."
Hoxha underlined Albania's support for suspending Russia's participation in the HRC, the Human Rights Council.
"This aggression and its startling defeat have once and for all divided the fates of the Ukrainians and the Russians. Because the case of Ukraine is also the cause of democracy against tyranny and kleptocracy," Hoxha added, aiming directly the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
