 The citizens of Albania will be able to benefit from the ratification of the Social Security Agreement with Canada and vice versa, the agreement enters into force on August 1, 2022.

The agreement on mutual recognition of social security helps Albanian and Canadian citizens living and working in their respective countries, coordinating payments and benefits according to the public pension plans of the two countries.

It was the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, who announced through social media that the agreement, which enters into force on August 1, 2022, gives the citizens of both countries the right to enjoy all the benefits of their contributions.

“Great news! "Albania and Canada ratified the Social Security Agreement, giving the citizens of both countries the right to enjoy all the benefits of their contributions after entering into force on August 1", writes Minister Xhaçka.

Rama welcomes the agreement

The agreement was also welcomed by Prime Minister Edi Rama. Through a Facebook post, Rama says that this is super news and the entry into force on August 1 gives citizens the right to enjoy all the benefits of their pension contributions.
