Lorela Cubaj will be part of the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) basketball championship, becoming thus the first Albanian woman to play in this championship.

Georgia Tech's women's basketball star for recent seasons was selected in the WNBA Draft on Monday, becoming the first Georgia Tech player to be selected since Tiauna Marshall was selected in the second round in 2014.

Also, Cubaj is the ninth player selected in the WNBA draft by Georgia Tech. She is one of the players who has received the most trophies in the history of Georgia Tech.

Cubaj was selected by the New York Liberty.

"She thrived by knocking down boards at the bottom of the defense, holding the average of the second-best defensive jumps per game in the country, at 9.1 last season," wrote the New York Liberty.
