Anthony Albanese |
Anthony Albanese has won the Australian federal election.
The labourists are able to form a minority government, which means Mr. Albanese will be Australia's 31st prime minister.
The score is a blow to Scott Morrison. Anthony Albanese is proclaimed the country's first prime minister of non-Anglo-Celtic descent.
He said it was time for parliament to reflect on "modern Australia", also citing his modest beginnings as a child in public housing.
In addition to the surname, is Albanese of Albanian origin?
Anthony Albanese is the son of Carlo Albanese from Barletta, Italy, and Maryanne Ellery, an Australian of Irish descent, they had a short relationship on a ferry traveling from Australia to England from which Albanese was born.

The town of Barletta lies in the south of Italy, in the region of Apulia. According to Greek City Times, in Apulia lives a large community of Arbëresh. It is believed that about 100,000 Arbëresh live there and that the father of the Australian politician, who has a good chance of becoming prime minister, also comes from this community.

A strong sign of Arbëresh origin is the surname "Albanese", which from Italian means "the Albanian".
