Former Socialist mayor of Vora Agim Kajmaku arrested on May 27 in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, during an anti-drug operation
Hiding and escaping from justice, the former mayor of Vora near Tirana, Agim Kajmaku, has been arrested by the police in Italy for possession of drugs, Italian and Albanian media writes.

Italian police announced that Kajmaku, elected mayor of Vora on June 30, 2019, by the ruling Socialist Party of Prime Minister Edi Rama, was arrested after being caught with 20 kilograms of cocaine.
Leaving after hiding his criminal conviction in Greece, Kajmaku was arrested on May 27 in San Benedeto del Tronto in Italy during an anti-drug operation.
The media in Tirana report that Kajmaku had hidden in a flower vase the seized cocaine drug with a monetary value of 1 million euros.
"For about 60 days, Kajmaku and the group of people who served to him were under strict 24-hour surveillance by the Italian police. "To follow step by step every movement, the Italian police have installed cameras in several axes of apartments and neighborhoods where conversations and meetings were held that had the theme of illegal narcotics activity in the neighboring country and Europe," Albanian media say.

Mr. Kajmaku was supported by the socialist leader Edi Rama with the slogan "Municipality we Want", but after a while allegedly has been revealed as involved in criminal activities and convictions in Greece that he had hidden in violation of the law on decriminalization of December 2015.
