Luiza Gega speaking to media after the victory in Manchester |
Luiza Gega started the Summer Athletics season with a victory. The Albanian athlete triumphed in the 3000 meters steeplechase on Friday in Manchester, part of the Continental World Tour. Gega dominated the race by passing the finish with a time of 9 minutes, 20 seconds, and 79 percent, setting the new stadium record that was previously 9 minutes and 30 seconds and approaching her record.
"I could have run a little faster to reach a time of under 9 minutes and 20 seconds, but I am still happy with the result. I lost a little time in the water hole, as I usually push with my right foot, but this time I did it with my left foot and I got stuck, but there is no problem, maybe I will achieve this in the next race", said Luiza Gega after the race.
