olsjan çela while signin the agreement with Ibero-American Associations of Public Prosecutors |
On Saturday, the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors signed a memorandum of understanding, expressing their willingness to cooperate in the fight against illegal trafficking, money laundering and any other crime of common interest, General Prosecution reports.
The memorandum was signed on the second day of the meeting that the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors is holding in Cartagena, Colombia, July 28-29.
In his speech, Attorney General of Albania Olsian Çela underlined the fact that cybercrime and the increasingly massive use of technology in committing transnational crimes require urgently an increase in human and technical capacities capable of understanding and coping with them.
“Globally, there is a growing interaction among criminals of all kinds. They are successfully using all the opportunities offered by digitalization. The exponential increase in the use of cryptocurrencies and the risk they present in terms of security issues, such as opportunities they create to facilitate money laundering, is a clear example of urgent need to redefine crime patterns and strategies. There is no time to lose. We are obliged to adapt our structures and priorities to these tendencies,” said Çela.
