Former President Sali Berisha was declared non-grata by Great Britain today for his ties to organized crime groups and enrichment through corruption for himself and the circle of people close to him.

In the official letter from London addressed to Mr. Berisha, it is emphasized that he has connections with criminals who pose a risk to public safety in Albania and the United Kingdom, which he is ready to use to achieve his own political ambitions, as reported.

The content of the announcement was made public by Mr. Berisha himself, who rejected these accusations as a "continuation of slander and lies" sponsored by Edi Rama and "corrupt lobbying" by him and George Soros.

"This aims to return Albania to a country without opposition, from which every asset is stripped, and from which Albanians run away. This aims to keep in power a government, the most corrupt in Europe" said Mr. Berisha.

The US Department of State announced in May of last year the ban on entry into the territory of the United States for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his family, due to "serious acts of corruption" and "undermining of democracy".
