The Dutch company SHELL has discovered large amounts of oil and gas in Albania. The news was issued by Prime Minister Edi Rama in the meeting with Dutch business representatives operating in Albania, as well as with new potential investors.
In his speech, the head of the government emphasized that this discovery will affect the future of Albania and the energy future of Europe.
"The Netherlands is present in Albania. We are very hopeful that soon we can share with our public opinion, regionally and beyond the region, a very important discovery that "Shell" is making in Albania. They are reluctant to talk about numbers at the moment. The signs show that we may be close to a very important discovery of gas and oil underground, which will affect the future of our country, but will also play a role in the energy future of Europe", said Rama.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, expressed impatience for the result of the SHELL exploration and emphasized that it will be a great discovery.
"As far as energy is concerned, SHELL has been working in Albania for a long time and we are eagerly awaiting the result of the exploration, which will be a great discovery, but without giving us details about what we expect. Albania will produce significant amounts of gas and oil, divided into 40% gas and 60% oil.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahinaj, highlighted the fiscal and legal facilities for investors in Albania.
While former Prime Minister Sali Berisha declared about 8 years ago that the Shell-Petromanas company had discovered large oil resources with an initial capacity of 1300 barrels in 24 hours. It seems these days the Shell company has discovered other resources that we yet don't know in term of numbers and agreements.
