| Luiza Gega after winning ranked fifth in the world in Oregon |
In the early hours of this morning, the red and black champion in athletics Luiza Gega gave the best performance of all time for Albania in a World Championship, surpassing herself again.
Gega is ranked fifth in the final of the 3000-meter hurdles at the biggest athletics event being held in Oregon, United States of America.
She recorded a time of 9:10.04, breaking by about 4 and a half seconds the national record she had set just a few weeks earlier at the Oran 2022 Mediterranean Games.
A fantastic race from Luiza, who for many years has been an absolute guarantee in every event, but who during this season has broken every limit with her phenomenal performance.
The 3000m steeplechase final in Oregon was truly spectacular, as Kazakhstan's Norah Jeruto took first place with a time of 8:52.02 (Kenyan naturalized athlete).
Ethiopians Werkuha Gatachew (8:55.61) and Mekides Abebe (8:56.08) were ranked second and third, while Winfred Mutile Yavi (9:01.31), a Kenyan athlete representing Bahrain, was fourth.
