The increase in prices has forced the Bank of Albania to raise the base interest rate for the lek for the second time in a few months.
The bank's supervisory board decided that the base rate will increase by 0.25%, touching the level of 1.25%.
This is the second intervention since March, in the direction of tightening the monetary policy and in response to the strong increase in inflation, which in May reached 6.7%, the highest level in the last 20 years.
The Governor of the Central Bank also commented on the fiscal amnesty initiative, the bill of which has been submitted for public consultation.
