A structured criminal network was attacked by the Spanish police a few days ago where 7 people were arrested. According to the Spanish media, the criminal group was robbing luxury villas, where the list includes the homes of well-known football players.
The arrested, who are of Albanian origin, are suspected of having just committed a robbery at the villa of Ronaldo "The Phenomenon" in Ibiza, in which they stole jewelry and luxury watches worth around 3 million euros.
Two of the perpetrators were arrested in their apartment, where some of the stolen items were found. Several other items were found in their car.
Meanwhile, the police suspect that this criminal group is also responsible for 15 other robberies in the provinces of Alicante, Malaga, and Murcia.
Investigating the criminal group
Investigations into the criminal group began in late 2021 when several burglaries were discovered inside luxury villas on the Costa del Sol, Murcia, and Ibiza over Christmas and New Year.
The agents' first investigations led them to discover that the criminal network was perfectly organized and structured, with its base in Albania from where they traveled to Spain in time to carry out the hits on the selected residences.
They were also able to verify the security measures they took to commit the robberies, having high-speed vehicles. The investigation revealed that the vehicles used were rented and that they were selected based on their power.
Robbery targets, businessmen and footballers
At this point in the investigation, agents were able to determine that the organization was selecting the homes of big businessmen or celebrities to carry out the attacks and that they had documents with selected residences in exclusive areas across the country.
They were also able to discover that before committing the robberies they visited the villas to find out the security measures the villas had. During the robberies, they used sophisticated transmission equipment to communicate between the participants in the criminal actions.
The steps taken managed to locate a married couple living in Malaga who had strong ties to members of the criminal organization and who carried out all the logistical tasks needed to carry out the theft, providing vehicles, money, shelter, and intelligence of houses to carry out the attacks.
At a certain point in the investigation, the agents discovered that the leaders of the organization visited the cities of Malaga, Barcelona and Ibiza on the same day, which led them to suspect that they might be thinking of carrying out some of their criminal activities.
