Charft of the crude birth rate in UK from 1938 to 2020 |
It is the first time that in Britain, Albanians entered the top ten, among the many foreign communities living on the island, for the number of births to non-British parents.
According to the Office for National Statistics, in Britain, there is a decline in the number of children born to mothers who were not born in Britain.
According to these statistics for annual births, Albania is in the first ten places in England and Wales, while the Romanians are in the first place.
But the figure for Albanians is significant if you compare Romanians and Albanians living in Britain when the Romanians are known to have arrived by the millions due to the fact that they were a country of the European Union in the period before Brexit and entered and settled without any difficulties in Britain. Albania ranks eighth for children born to fathers who were not born in Britain.
The figures for England and Wales have shown a significant decrease in the birth rate during the last decade. Despite the predictions for a boom in births during the pandemic, starting from the fact that couples were forced to stay at home, the figures show that the birth rate fell to the lowest levels.
During the last two decades, the number of Albanians who have chosen Britain as their favorite country has increased significantly, a very large part without documentation, another part who have benefited from requests for asylum or amnesty. At the moment it is difficult to say what is the number of the Albanian community living in Britain, even though the majority is concentrated in London, but in recent years the Albanians have spread to all parts of the island and major cities in central England and Scotland.
