The Albanian athlete who was born and lives in Greece, Elina Xhengo excelled at the European Athletics Championships being held in Munich, where she won a gold medal in the javelin throw and was declared European champion.

"I have promised that she will not do this job again (for her mother who is a house cleaner). That I will get to the point with my performance that I will have enough money to stop her from working in-house clearance."

She was born in Greece on September 2, 2002 and her parents are Albanian immigrants. They fought hard and are proud, as is the whole of Greece, of Elina's great achievement.

2018 was a defining year. She reached her limits, since even though she had set a panhellenic record two years ago, she could not participate in any event outside Greece, as she did not have Greek citizenship.
