Abazovic inspecting confiscated cigarettes in Tivar |
The Directorate of Revenue and Customs in Montenegro announced on Wednesday that a large number of smuggled cigarettes was seized in the Port of Tivar. The outgoing Prime Minister, Dritan Abazovic, also went to the scene and congratulated the authorities for the successful operation of confiscating cigarettes worth around three million euros.
During a visit to the port of Tivar, together with the director of the Directorate of Revenue and Customs, Rado Milosevic, Mr. Abazovic said that "there will be no withdrawal from the fight against crime and that what is happening is a race between good and bad".
The director of the Montenegrin Customs Directorate, Rado Milosevic, said that the shipment had been monitored for more than 30 days.
"We have made it difficult for all the people who try to engage in crime. The confiscated cigarettes are worth more than three million euros. There will be operations of this type in the future as well," he said.
Mr. Milosevic said that "these goods arrived by ship" and that the smugglers tried to transport this amount to Serbia.
He also said that "the company that owned the cigarettes has offered to give up these goods to avoid criminal liability."
