7400 Albanian farmers have applied to receive money from the Ministry of Agriculture, stating that they will plant more than 1 hectare of wheat. From September 1 to 23, every farmer was given the opportunity to become part of the scheme to benefit from 30,000 lek per 1 hectare of wheat he/she will plant.

With the applications that have been made, the interest seems high and the 500 million leks fund made available to them may not be enough.

Institutions will verify the documents and the land surfaces that will be planted with wheat to finally approve the transfer of funds by the end of the year.

The support with money for wheat by Albanian farmers was prompted by the problems brought about by the Russian and Ukrainian markets. The Ministry anticipates that this scheme will increase the area of wheat by 17 thousand hectares, to produce 120 tons of grain that will be released to the market.

According to AZHBR, based on the applications, the largest number of beneficiaries will be registered in Fier, Lushnjë, and Korçë.
