Italy refuses the extradition of Alban Malaveci, who is accused by SPAK of violating equality in the tender in the same process as the former director of Albanian Radio Television, Thoma Gëllçi.

Extradition was refused on the grounds that the fact does not constitute a criminal offense in Italy, local media say.

Malaveci, together with the citizens, Julian Tapia and Ervin Muraj, fell into handcuffs after being members of the Bid Evaluation Commission, they are accused of cooperating with Thoma Gëllçi in a corrupt tender of about 1 million euros for the construction of RTSH Agro - a state TV channel relating to Albanian agriculture issues.

Gëlçi was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison for embezzlement but was released on August 30 because the terms of the sentence have expired, while two of the accomplices, Muraj and Tapia, were released in June.
