Russian Albanologist Alexander Rusakov says he will not return to Russia unless the war in Ukraine ends.

In an interview for "Euronews Albania", Rusakov said that his departure from Russia was not directly related to his statement that he was against the war.

"Part of my family is in Germany. I don't know if I will return to Russia. Maybe nothing will happen and maybe after a few weeks there will be a criminal measure against me, I don't know. The main reason for my flight from Russia was not a personal danger, but the rejection of the conduct of the war. Nothing changed and I have no hope that it will change in the coming months. I think I will return to Russia if the situation will change, the war will end", he emphasized.

Alexander Rusakov, a professor in the Albanian language department at Saint Petersburg University, has spoken out against the war, calling it criminal.

A few days after this stay, he left Russia and asked for a residence permit in Albania, which was accepted.

Currently, Rusakov is working at the Academy of Sciences in Tirana.
