The journalist in Montenegro, Ilmira Lika, says that the signing of the agreement with the Serbian church by the government of Dritan Abazovic brought division among the people.

In an interview for "Euronews Albania", Lika said that the Albanians expected more from Abazovic and not that he should see the Serbian church as a priority.

"Division between the Serbian and Montenegrin population. The Montenegrin population has waited more, but in this case, the Montenegrin population has been left in the shadows. The signing of the agreement has brought a rift between the Montenegrin Orthodox Church and the Serbian Orthodox Church. The people are divided, and the Albanians are also affected here.

We did not expect that Abazovic would deal with the church first because it was not a priority, but it was probably some political calculation or agreement. The people did not accept it in general and this was another failure of Abazovic", she emphasized.

The Assembly of Montenegro voted in the early hours of the morning of August 20 with no confidence in the government of Dritan Abazovic, who is one of the Albanians of Montenegro.

The government was overthrown with 50 votes in favor and one against. After this decision, Abazovic will work in a technical mandate until the election of the new government.

The initiative to topple the government came from the Democratic Socialist Party of Montenegrin president Milo Djukanovic and some other parties as a sign of dissatisfaction with Abazovic's decision to sign the Basic Agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church.
