The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, received yesterday the world champion in wrestling, Zelimkhan Abakarov, who a few days ago raised the Albanian flag on the highest top of the podium in Belgrade.
A meeting was a sign of gratitude for Abakarov, which was expressed not only in words but also in deeds. The mayor has donated a 2+1 apartment in the capital to Abakarov, as well as a 1+1 apartment to Islam Dudaev, who has also represented Albania at the highest levels in international competitions, being a contender for medals.
"This symbolic gesture has warmed the hearts not only of our champions but of all athletes who want to become champions because they already see a light of appreciation for all the effort and fatigue that each of the athletes puts into their sport", - writes the Albanian Federation of Wrestling in the post about this meeting in the Municipality of Tirana.
