Turkish college in Albania, "Mehmet Akif" |
In addition to the Turkish college named after "Mehmet Akif", the Albanian Ministry of Education has also closed the "Zubeyde Hanim" kindergarten.
Kids parents say to Euronews Albania that the kindergarten was closed for no reason.
They emphasized that they have not seen any problems there while adding that the reason for the closure seems pointless.
They further indicated that they had a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Education, but that they were disappointed.
"Teaching will begin until a final decision is taken by law enforcement institutions," said Vanina Çala.
"We have suddenly received a decision that the kindergarten will be closed. I am familiar with the decision today. I went directly to the Ministry of Education to get clarification. We managed to get 5 people inside. It is a very big concern. We met with Alçi Kushi, secretary general of the Ministry who appears as the signatory of this act to close this institution. We didn't have any problems with the kindergarten" - said Ilir Gashi.
"We received the decision on Wednesday. The institutions have not presented any problems. Kindergarten is different from college.
Why the closure of Turkish education institutions in Albania?
We mention here that the kindergarten named after Zübeyde Hanım was the mother of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, who is rumored that hi is of Albanian roots.

This movement is thought to have ties to the continuation of Turkey's official war with the Gülen movement, given that these schools are believed to be funded by Gülen and convey the spirit of republican Turkey, which goes on contrary of Erdogan's interests in order to maintain power. About 6 years ago, Turkey asked Albania to forbid Turkish national symbols on Gulenist schools, and now it seems the time has come to ask Edi Rama to shut up these "Turkish Republican Schools", given that Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is close friends with Turkish Prime Minister Rexhep Tay Erdogan.
