The head of the Canadian parliament in Albania: Happy that we have 35 thousand Albanians in Canada

 On the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Canada, the speaker of the Parliament of Canada, Antony Rota, visited our country. In the joint press conference with Speaker Lindita Nikolla, he announced that there are over 35,000 Albanians living in Canada, who serve to strengthen relations between the two countries.

"We look forward to meeting deputies of your beautiful country, to meet many Albanians, these meetings are foreseen in our program. To have dialogue in areas such as diversity, human rights, and climate change. We are also here to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Canada. Today, relations between the two countries continue to flourish. As a nation we are happy to have over 35 thousand Albanians in Canada, we have the Friendship Group in the Canadian Parliament to strengthen our relations".


For her part, Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla praised Canada for its support to Albania for Iran's cyber attacks and the recognition of pensions, while emphasizing the increase in cooperation in strategic sectors.

"Canada has strongly condemned cyber attacks against Albania and has joined us and our allies in attributing this activity to Iran. We discussed increasing Canadian companies in Albania in sectors such as energy, mining, water management, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, and innovation. We discussed the need to activate the Canadian fund for local initiatives and women's rights and empowerment, as well as gender equality. We discussed the agreement on double avoidance and the prevention of fiscal evasion. Albania appreciates the recognition of pensions that entered into force on August 1, 2022. We appreciate Canada's role in the UN and NATO. We appreciate its support for Ukraine".
