A criminal organization of Albanian origin that operated in the Costa Tropical of Granada and in Malaga, Spain, has been dismantled by the National Police. This group was dedicated to the cultivation, transformation, and delivery of large quantities of marijuana to northern Europe.
Of the five arrested persons, four (Albanians) have been left in prison, accused of allegedly committing the crimes of drug trafficking, organized criminal group, and electricity fraud.
The investigation into this group began last March, when the Narcotics Group of the Motril Police Station received some information about the existence of a marijuana plantation being cultivated inside an industrial warehouse of a small town on the coast of Granada.
After long investigations, the police managed to prove the existence of the marijuana plantation.
The environment adapted for the cultivation of narcotic plants consisted of rooms dedicated to the development and flowering of marijuana plants and, on the other hand, of specific parts intended for the germination of the plants.
During this control, the police arrested the owner of the house and seized over 450 marijuana plants in an advanced state of development.
A second plantation on the Costa Tropical
Following the investigation, in early November, agents dismantled a second plantation consisting of three rooms in an apartment located on the coast of Granada.
Another 130 marijuana plants were found and an Albanian was arrested.
On the other hand, the investigation focused on several apartments in the city of Mijas-Costa in Malaga, and ended with the arrest of three other men of Albanian origin, all members of the investigated criminal organization.
How did the organization work?
The now-defunct organization was characterized by the comprehensive management of drug trafficking, and its activities ranged from finding and renting farms and country houses in isolated locations on the Costa Tropical of Granada to developing marijuana plantations in these areas, to the transformation, storage and delivery to northern Europe of already processed marijuana.
These persons used rented vehicles with forged documentation to make it difficult for police officers to find them.
On the other hand, the material needed for the development of the plantations was bought by this organization in various industrial properties near the capital of Malaga.
The arrested are a 27-year-old Spanish citizen with no criminal record, along with four other men of Albanian origin.
The latter are between the ages of 25 and 51 and had no police records in Spain, except for one of them.
Those arrested are accused of committing criminal offenses of drug trafficking, belonging to a criminal organization and electricity fraud.
The judicial authority has already imposed a prison sentence on four of the arrested, according to Spanish media.
