The internationally famous Albanian singer Dua Lipa has returned to the headlines of the media all over the world, after receiving Albanian citizenship from the president of Albania.

Even the prestigious DailyMail has devoted an article to her, in which it is said that the 27-year-old singer was born in London in 1995 to Kosovar-Albanian parents who fled the conflict and political instability in the Balkans. She has often proudly mentioned her Albanian origins on Instagram and in press interviews.

Dua received citizenship before the 110th anniversary of Albania's independence and President Bajram Begaj said that he considered it an honor because Dua has made Albanians famous around the world.

"I will also be Albanian with papers", said Dua before taking the oath of citizenship in the capital city of Tirana.

"It is an indescribable great joy with such acceptance, love, and everything," she added. The artist then took a passport photo, was fingerprinted, and signed an application form for an identity card and passport.

Further, the article states that Dua will end her annual concert tour in Tirana's main Skënderbej Square to commemorate Independence Day.

At just 27, the stylish singer has established herself as one of British pop's biggest stars, fulfilling a dream that began when she was a primary school pupil in Camden.

Born in London, Dua attended a small state primary school and got her first taste of performing while taking Saturday lessons at the world-famous Sylvia Young Theater School.
