The Central Bank of Kosovo has shown that during the first nine months of 2022, the diaspora sent 54.4 million euros more. In total, immigrants sent 916.2 million euros.

The data of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) show that during the first nine months of 2022, the diaspora sent 54.4 million euros more.
For this period, the highest value was during the month of July with 114.9 million euros out of a total of 916.2 million euros, Monitor reports.
According to the remittance channels, CBK says that 526.1 million euros were transferred through the first remittance agencies, while the rest was through commercial banks and alternative channels.
Whereas, as far as emigrants' remittances by country are concerned, Germany is the country where the most money is sent to Kosovo. 38.9 percent of shipments came from this country, followed by Switzerland with 17.9 percent and the United States of America with 8.4 percent.
Economics professor Ujkan Bajra has said that the diaspora is a very important contributor to the economic development of the country, according to him, after the war, the remittances that immigrants send to the country is up to an average of 16% of the GDP.
"It is true that the diaspora is a very important contributor, not only in the remittances it sends to families but also for the economic development of the country. Starting after the war and until now, the share of remittances or remittances sent by our compatriots to Kosovo is brought up to an average of 16% of GDP, which is not very small and is expected to have a positive impact on economic growth as well".
He stated among other that their orientation should be different since most of the deliveries go to daily consumption.
The World Bank(WB) says that since the declaration of independence, about 13 billion euros have been sent to Kosovo.
