Altin Dumani is the new head of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Albania, known locally by the acronym SPAK. As the High Council of the Procuratorate voted for the new head of SPAK, the American ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, was also present in the hall and justified her arrival with the importance of the process. Meanwhile, the political debate on SPAK seems more heated than ever, according to local analysts, Euronews reports.

Ambassador Yuri Kim was also present at the election of Dumani, who arrived at the Pole of Justice building only during the interview of the third candidate, Edvin Kondili. This candidate received 4 votes while the other candidate, Adnan Xholi, received only 1 vote.

Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the appointment of the new head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, Altin Dumani. "The process of electing the new leader of SPAK spoke for itself for all those who want to listen and all the rumors of the political and media circles about the capture and "escape" of SPAK from the regime were blown away! Congratulations to the new leader of SPAK and let work with concrete results take the floor!", wrote Rama on Twitter.

But there was also a strong reaction from the unofficial Democratic Party (DP) leaded by Sali Berisha.

"SPAK has had dozens of scandals in hand, which were either investigated from the tail or not touched at all. A 'palace of justice' in the corridors of which goes to make excursions and give directives the prime minister and an ambassador who plays the role of the governor, is neither independent, nor free, nor separate from the executive power, as it demands a normal and functional democracy. With these irrefutable facts, SPAK is simply a section of the Socialist Party", the nonofficial Democratic Party of Albania states.

With 5 votes in favor, Altin Dumani was elected the new head of SPAK, a position he will hold for the following 3 years.

After Duman, the most voted by KLP members was Edvin Kondili with 4 votes, followed by Adnan Xholi, who only received 1 vote.
