While according to statistics, the Trepca mine in Northern Kosovo is one of the most important mines in Europe, extracting thousands of tons of very precious minerals for the mechanical and electrical industry every day, even many researchers think that Serbia is interested just for Trepca, and this is the reason it does not give up from Kosovo. But also the minerals in Albania are not left behind.
Albania's Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has issued five more mining permits for interested entities, Monitor reports.
According to the ministry, the offers must be submitted by December 27 and it is mainly about chrome exploration and discovery, but not only. Mining areas of interest are located in different regions of the country.
The first is mining area No. 602/1 with object "Jugu i Hurdhe", Dibër District, chrome ore type, research - discovery activity.
The second area is mining area No. 289/6, facility "Stan Karbunare", Lushnje, Fier District, type of limestone mineral, exploitation activity.
The third one is numbered No. 684/2, "Lugu i Dërrasave" Facility, Tropoje, Kukës District, chrome ore type, research-discovery activity.
The fourth mining area No. 662/2, Object "Qafa e Luzhë 2", Tropojë, Kukës District, chrome ore type, research - discovery activity.
The last mining area No. 22/16, Object "Manskuri", Durrës District, clay mineral type, exploitation activity.
In total, this year the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has announced four other competitive procedures with a total of 17 mining areas included in them.
Until the end of last year, the mining activity in the country basically had 587 exploration and exploitation permits, the leading ones are those of chrome with at least 251 of them, but there are also those of iron, nickel, or nickel silicate with 31 or even other minerals.
Minerals used in construction also have a significant dominance. As far as the counties are concerned, the permit record is held by Kukësi, followed by Berat and Elbasan.
