Aleksandar Vucic in a speech in Serbia (archive) |
No one from Serbia will be in Tirana at the December 6 summit. This was announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who reacted with anger to the appointment of Serbian politician, Nenad Rasic, to the post of Minister for Communities and Returns.
"Not only have they violated all the norms of the Brussels agreement, but also all the norms of international law and they don't care because this is in the interest of a European power", declared the Serbian president, stressing that Mr. Rashić does have the trust of no one in Kosovo, but he has the trust of Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the West, and they think that this way they can intimidate the Serbs", VOA reports.
He repeated that Kosovo is the "greatest Serbian sanctuary". "I prefer to not exist than to hand it over to them. And I will not hand them over. No one from Serbia will be in Tirana on December 6", he said, expressing his anger with the "mild reaction of the European Union" to the appointment of Mr. Rashic.
He referred to a statement by the EU spokesperson for the Serbian media who was quoted as saying that "it is of fundamental importance that the appointments of ministers are made in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo. In this particular case, we call on Kosovo to make sure that all the procedural steps for the appointment of the minister representing the non-majority communities have been fulfilled".
