62,000 liters of oil smuggled from Libya to Durres Port, 13 arrested

 Euronews Albania has learned the names of the 13 arrested, in connection with the coded police operation "Geni", for the contraband oil coming from Libya that was seized yesterday in Durrës, Eurones Albania reports.

The arrested are: Elton Qevani, Klajdi Kapxhiu, Selim Gaba, Muhamet Eltawargy, Muhamed Arafe, Ahmed Zantawi, Ahmet Abdurrabu, Said Nwegi, Muhamed Mahmut, Eshref Kahlife, Islam Ashkar, Ali Hadad, and Adil Badawi.

Earlier today, the State Police gave details about this operation.

The Director of the Department for Border and Migration, Senior Executive Saimr Boshnjaku stated in a press conference that 62,000 liters of smuggled oil were seized, as well as 2 trawlers.

In the operation, the services of the Department of Border and Migration, in cooperation with the services of the Department of Criminal Police in the State Police, DVP Durrës, Delta Force, the services of the Naval Nucleus of the GDF in Durrës, the services of the QNOD and the guard were involved coastal.

As a result of the coordination of services, it became possible to identify two fishing vessels that are suspected of carrying out this illegal activity at sea.

The Police Services have escorted 2 fishing vessels, specifically the Albanian vessel "Geni" and the Lebanese vessel "ABOBAKR 124", which at the end of the first investigative actions were seized as material evidence.

The police operation and investigative actions lasted 48 hours, at sea and on land. During the operation, 2 ships were blocked and their crew members were arrested.
