The British Embassy in Tirana has started the new year with a reception with Albanian journalists and the ambassador emphasized the importance of reporting and how it affects the development of society.
"We started 2023 with a reception with Albanian journalists and media professionals. UK Ambassador Alastair King-Smith highlighted the importance of professional and ethical reporting to expose crime and corruption and build public trust by making the institutions more accountable.
“It is important to remember why media freedom is so vital. It is you who hold to account politicians and others with influence, who shine sunlight on the darkest areas of society. It is for the people of Albania, of the UK, and of every country that good journalism is important.”
